Lucion achieves re-accreditation of Investors in People

11 June 2021

We are delighted to announce that we have successfully achieved the re-accreditation of the Investors in People (IIP) award. The accreditation is a confirmation of our commitment to our people in supporting them for their contribution to the company.

Having Investors in People accreditation consecutively since 2017, the award demonstrates that we continue to support the principles of #IIP and develop our own practices year on year.

Despite having to work a whole lot differently throughout a global pandemic, IIP acknowledges that we have maintained the qualifying standards required to uphold our position as an Investors In People employer.

The independent Assessor from IIP interviewed Lucion colleagues for their feedback and comments. The assessor’s comments included:

"Overall, your people were optimistic and enthusiastic about the plans for the business."

"People were clear about their roles and how they contribute to the business."

"There were good examples of evaluation of management development and progress in establishing feedback loops, such as the well-being survey."

"The openness of communication was a considerable strength."

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said:

“We’d like to congratulate Lucion Services on their achievement. Being accredited with We invest in people is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places Lucion in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”

We want to thank our staff for their contribution to what is a great achievement for all of us. At the crux of it, the accreditation means that every single person is involved in supporting each other and is doing their best to make work better.

Last year has been particularly challenging, requiring us to adopt new practices, as we continued to deliver high-quality services. We are therefore delighted that our team feels informed, engaged and supported and that their dedication to their work and to Lucion is highlighted in our accreditation.

Commenting on the award, Lucion’s Chief People Officer, Sarah Taylor said:

“Our business relies on the skills and expertise of our People who operate in a highly regulated and fast-changing environment and so it’s essential that we continue to develop and invest in them.

Like all businesses we’ve experienced new challenges in the last year that have required us to be more agile and to make decisions to ensure we have a sustainable business in the longer-term and I’m delighted that our commitment to our people has been recognised”.

The award also challenges us to innovate and continually review our people practices, reward and recognition strategy, and to ensure that our people are at the heart of our overall business strategy.

With the recent acquisition of Delta-Simons, Lucion has created a business with revenues of around £50m, serving 1,500 clients across 20 sectors including Utilities, Real Estate, Nuclear, Technology, Marine, Government, Education, Planning and Development. The enlarged group has more than 500 employees, the majority of whom are field-based technical specialists with skillsets in 50+ environmental consultancy services, including hazardous materials, ecology, air and water services, geo-environmental and sustainability among others.

We are recognising the IIP accreditation and thanking all 500 employees, now part of the new group, through investing in our environment for a sustainable future by planting over 500 trees to represent our team members in 2021.

We are very pleased to have Investors in People status continue alongside the growth of our company. We are proud of our strong diverse workforce and will continue to invest in our people so they can be the best that they can be.

About Investors in People

Investors in People is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support, and manage people successfully to achieve sustainable results. It enables organisations to benchmark against the best in the business on an international scale.

The standards foundation is based on the Investors in People’s robust framework, reflecting the latest workplace trends, critical skills and dynamic structures required to outperform in any industry. Since its inception in 1991, the standard has been reviewed every three years to ensure it remains relevant and accessible.

Most of us will spend around 80,000 hours at work in our lifetimes. For something that takes up that much of our time, deserves to get more out of it than just a regular paycheque. The Investors in People have already helped more than 11 million people across 75 countries to make work better.

Organisations that meet the ‘We invest in our people’ framework proudly display their accreditation to the world because they understand that it’s people that make work better.
